Congress has kept active with political organizations and has been advising fellow Republicans since resigning as speaker of the House and leaving the chamber after the 1998 midterms.

In early 2011, he criticized President Barack Obamas response to the crisis in Libya, suggesting that the president had spent more time completing his NCAA basketball tournament bracket than focusing on Libya.

He says he would overhaul the tax code by cutting corporate rates, ending capital gains taxes and eliminating the estate tax. Hed also take steps toward an optional flat tax, keeping charitable and home ownership deductions.

Rep. Gingrey Enters Ga. Phil Gingrey R., Ga. has entered the race for the Senate seat now held by Sen. Saxby Chambliss R., Ga., who isnt seeking reelection in 2014.
